Marcus
That's not a twist ending. It's the first sentence.
Sarah
(laughs) It is. I'm Sarah, this is Marcus, and this is The Daily Lesson — one year, three hundred and sixty-five episodes, walking through the Workbook of A Course in Miracles one lesson a day. Every episode, same shape: I read the day's lesson out loud, in full, straight from the original text — and then the two of us talk about what it actually says, and how to do the practice it asks for. Which is usually a minute or two with your eyes open, looking at your own life.
Marcus
I should be clear about my qualifications, which are none. Sarah has studied this book for years. I hadn't read a page of it before Day 1. So the questions you'd want to ask — what does this sentence even mean, do I have to believe this, why am I telling a table it doesn't mean anything — I ask them. Out loud. On the record.
Sarah
And the Workbook's own answer, from its introduction, is the whole reason a skeptic can do this: "You need not believe the ideas. You need not accept them. You need not even welcome them." It asks for practice — a few quiet minutes a day — not agreement.
Marcus
Which is the part I can vouch for. I've been doing the exercises and reporting back every morning — what worked, what fell apart forty seconds in. Mostly the second one, so far.
Sarah
Here's how to start, and this matters: don't start with today's episode. The show is serial. Go to the beginning of the feed — Day 0 — and start there, today, whatever the date is.
